​Hi, my name is Michael Jarnebro, and I am Vigilant Proofreader. I graduated with majors in philosophy, political science, and international studies from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and I have a nugget of law school under my belt. I have an array of hobbies, but most importantly, I experiment with creative writing.

I started Vigilant Proofreader because I always found myself correcting my own work too early (as a writer, it’s not advisable; as a proofreader, ’tis vigilant). As a former paralegal and law clerk, the proofreading and copyediting of the massive documents I sifted through (and wrote) was my favorite part of the job. As a creative writer, I am meticulous in making sure every. single. word. has meaning in my writing.

 

One must know the rules in order to follow them . . . and to break them.

But like an owl, we need to be wise and watchful.

And I like being watchful—especially to avoid danger.
